The Living Well project was a conversion of a 14,000 square foot floor of an 18 story medical office building in to a new geriatric health clinic. The client wanted an atmosphere that is at once hospitable and welcoming. Also, the client wanted a space that relates to the historical and ethnic culture of Houston, Texas and the Living Well clients. The design utilizes multiple colors and curved lines reminiscent of the Art Deco and Art Nuevo movements historically prevalent in Houston. The colors and lines also relate to the Hispanic and African American cultures and styles of the Living Well/Houston patients. The client required a full service clinic, with ten generously proportioned exam rooms, a lab, a pharmacist office, a large living room, a kitchen for nutritional classes, as well as educational rooms, offices, and consulting rooms.
